[OSEN=정준화 기자] Singer PSY and group BIGBANG, two brothers of YG Entertainment, are soon to record 100 million views of their music videos. Today at the earliest or tomorrow at the latest, their music videos are expected to surpass the 100 million view mark. People are paying keen attention to whose video will achieve such a big record first.
According to world’s biggest video-streaming website YouTube, the music video of PSY’s new song “DADDY” is recording 99 million views as of January 18 in the morning. The video released on December 1 last year recorded 20 million views within three days of release, 40 million views within nine days, 50 million views within 12 days, and then 60 million views within 17 days of release.
If such trend continues, PSY is soon to record 100 million views for his music video for the fourth time. By recording 100 million views for four songs in a row for “Gangnam Style”, “Gentleman”, “HANGOVER”, and finally “DADDY”, PSY is boasting his firm status as a “world-famous star”.
PSY is the “king of YouTube”. The music video of “Gangnam Style” that was released in July, 2012, is currently recording 2.4 billion views, writing a new history of YouTube. The music video of “Gentleman” has also surpassed 900 million views recently, proving global fans’ still-big interest in PSY. The video of “HANGOVER” for which PSY collaborated with SnoopDogg has also surpassed 200 million views.
The baton was passed to “DADDY”. PSY’s unique music videos of “Gangnam Style”, “Gentleman” and finally of “DADDY” have captivated music fans not only in Korea but also from around the world. The new entertainment presented by PSY has been fascinating the world once again.
The focus of interest is the fact that BIGBANG, PSY’s YG colleague, is also soon to achieve the 100 million view mark. The music video of “BANG BANG BANG” released in June last year surpassed 50 million views within two months and 24 days of its release, and it is now recording 99.5 million views as of January 18 (at 8am). The music video of BIGBANG’s “LOSER” released in May last year also surpassed 80 million views.
The two YG brothers are now competing against each other, to take the 100 million view mark first. As of now, BIGBANG is expected to take the record sooner, but the number of views for PSY’s music video is also recording a rapid growth. Therefore, it is still not clear who will actually set the record first.
BIGBANG swept the music scene with their “MADE Project” in which they released two songs every month from May to August last year. According to Gaon chart, BIGBANG’s “BANG BANG BANG” topped the digital chart for last year based on the records written from January 1 to December 25 last year. BIGBANG’s “LOSER” and “BAE BAE” took the second and fourth place on the chart, too, proving BIGBANG’s big influence on charts.
PSY’s comeback was another big sensation for the music scene in the year 2015. PSY released “PSY 7TH ALBUM” on December 1 last year, and enjoyed a big popularity with new songs “DADDY” and “NAPAL BAJI”. He also rounded off “ALL NIGHT STAND” concert at the end of last year in a great success.
