Big Bang on “El Comercio” Peruvian Newspaper
The Korean band Big Bang is coming on the 14th of November to the Jockey Club of Peru with their 1st World Tour.
HIP HOP EXPLOSION
The so called Kings of Korea. G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri, members of the band Big Bang, are the artists with the highest record of both physical & digital sales in their country.
Their fifth (mini) album “Alive” sold more than 267.319 copies throughout May. Their closest competitor got to 165.411 sales.
Are these numbers not enough for you? How about looking at the madness they cause in social networks?
Their MV “Monster” got 3 million views in YouTube only on it’s first day of release. They five interpreters, hip hop, R&B and pop dancers might be not as well known in the west as others groups but they have a great legion of fans here in PERU.
They are gonna be so excited to know that they are coming here on 14th of November in the Jockey Club of Peru. The K-Pop group (Korean Pop) is coming as part of their world tour “BIGBANG ALIVE GALAXY TOUR”, for which they are visiting 16 countries. Only two for Latin America; BRAZIL & PERU.
The band is gonna present the album “Alive”. This one set a record because was the first Korean album to enter the Billboard 200, at number 150.
The tour is brought to us as a collaboration between the band & Live nation Entertainment. The company has organized world tours such as Madonna and Lady Gaga’s, therefore a great stage is expected.
Television screens made them famous. Through “Big Bang Documentary” aired in 2006 through the Korean channel, “MNET”, young people fell in love with the K-Pop band.
The documentary showed a entertaining side but also how one by one the members who wanted be part of the band before debuting were eliminated.
Three days after airing the last episode they gave their very first concert. The next year they released their first mini album “Always”. The single “Lies”, written by G-Dragon, was a massive hit.
From the very beginning the members were able to write and compose the lyrics of their own songs but they have also manage to maintain solo careers of their own.
G-Dragon and Seungri are also solo artists, while Taeyang has studied acting & cinema at Deajim University.
Daesung has branched into the musical theater field—he was part of cast for korean musical “Cats”—and he has experience MC-ing television shows.
T.O.P has focused on his acting career. Until now he has appeared in three shows.
THEY ARE NOT FANS, THEY ARE VIPS
Their followers are very important people. That’s why they are not just “fans”. They are VIP. In Peru, there are thousands of them, like Allison Espinoza and Roxi Guillen, admins of Big Bang Fans PERU.
For them, “Being a VIP doesn’t mean being a fan. To us means support them always, be part of their bright future”. The Fan Club “BIG BANG IS GREAT PERU” has more than 12 000 followers on Facebook. Most of them from our country.
For Evelyn, the admin, there is so much more to say about them. “It is not just that I like them. I fell in love with them through their music. My respect toward them also increased just knowing that the support various charitable causes.”

Taeyang's Interview on S Cawaii Magazine
SOL:
Q: How would you describe your own personality?
Sol:I am more of a person who is cautious.I am serious in finishing work related stuff. Recently, I have the kind of mindset that no matter what kinds of job it is, I have to have a try.
Q: A trick that you played on others when you were small?
Sol:When I was on the bus, there were no people who wanted to hop off from the bus but I would press the button to notify the driver.The driver remembered my face and he scolded me. Even so, when the bus was approaching to the stops, I would still want to press the button.
Q: Do you still remember the first time that you stood on stage?
Sol: Of course. I cried because I was to excited when I was performing in YG's 10 anniversary concert. The life of being a trainee for 6 years just ran across my mind but because I was not satisfied with my performance so I cried again.
Q: Can you tell us something which Big Bang is proud of ?
Sol: One and only BIG BANG!
Q:Do you collect things?
Sol:There are many, including the brand Chrome Heart and pictures from the anime series‘One Piece’. I always get my fashion sense from them and am inspired from them, too.
Q:Do you have any shortcomings?
Sol: There are many. The biggest of them is I want to win so much. I think it is good to have ambition but not good to have too much.
Q: What food can make you happy?
Sol: Recently it's Japanese style breakfast. I can work happily for a whole day if I have this kind of breakfast.(with rice and tegomass in the breakfast set)
Q: What do you immediately do after you wake up?
Sol: In Japan, I will eat Japanese styled breakfast.(laughs). Generally, I don't do anything specific.
Q:What do you do in order to make yourself more confident?
Sol: I will identifiy myself.I cannot think like ‘it is not okay’ but I have to look at myself honestly.
Q: Your body shape is really good, how do you train it up?
Sol: Although I do exercise, I've always danced to train myself up. The most frequently used exercise is handstands, this is an exercise for the whole body. Besides doing handstands, I also do push ups.
Q: Do you have any mottos or words that you like?
Sol: Passion.
Q: Which period of time can you relax during these busy days?
Sol: After the concerts, I can feel more blessed.
Q: What does your room look like?
Sol:After you entered it, there are pictures on the left. On the right, there are CD shelves, in the middle, there is a really big bed. In front of it, there is a computer.I put it there because I watch films on it.
Q: What do you wanna try if you have a chance?
Sol: Parachuting.
Q: The song that you have been humming is?
Sol: Chris Brown’s ‘She Ain’t You’. This is a song which has used a part of my most favourite singer Micheal Jackson’s song, ‘Human Nature’. It is remade into a Hip Hop style song.
Q: Do you have hobbies or things that you are good at doing that others find strange?
Sol: There are few things like this, my hobby is cycling (bicycle riding). I have been cycling when I am in Korea. My mood would be lifted up when I listen to music while cycling.
Q: What things that girls do would make you feel they are cute?
Sol:Perhaps when they don't answer what they are supposed to answer. But I think that girls’ existence itself is really cute.(laughs) They are even cuter if they are full of love towards others.
Q:What will you do if someone you like appear? Will you confess first?
Sol: I think I will become awkward and I don't really like that side of myself. (laughs)
Q: Do you have thoughts that you want to get married?
Sol:I do have such thoughts recently. Artists get love from a lot of fans and I reply them with music. The more love that I get, the less able I am to imagine myself or my life married.
Q: If you were granted a wish, what wish would it be?
Sol: Because I think that I have already gotten a lot of love, I hope that before I go into heaven, I can utilize my inspiration and passion.

"Pop from where?" - Big Bang leads Hallyu in the Caribbean
September 1st, 2011. 7:29pm. DJ Peacemaker: "I told you I was gonna play it, for the 'k-pop lovers', directly from Korea, they are BIG BANG. I keep my word."
When the radio station HOT 102.5 debuted the song 'Tonight' of boy group BIGBANG, many Puertoricans jumped from happiness. The evidence is a video that was uploaded unto YouTube where "PR Also Loves K-pop" group members recorded their reactions when they heard their favorite group.
It would've been nothing out of the ordinary, except for the fact that this catchy song was sung in Korean and in English, and the fact that it was an Asian group.
"Yes, we're are playing K-pop" confirms Luiz Vélez, Program Director of the radio station, who pleased "numerous" petitions he received from fans through the radio station's SNS sites.
[The station] first played "Tonight" and then "Blue", both from BIGBANG.
"'Tonight' was a version in English with Korean parts" explains Vélez. [T/N: I'm guessing he meant it had English parts, but the reporter misunderstood]
"The sound is very similar to the 90s music, when there were groups such as the Backstreet Boys. They mix styles, the old with the new, they have a lot of dances and many group members."
