[동아닷컴 홍세영 기자] As BIGBANG’s TAEYANG sweeps across domestic music charts with his 2nd full album “RISE,” Japanese fans also showed extremely enthusiastic response—and thus additional concerts are scheduled for his tour for the local fans.
TAEYANG recently announced that he will be holding his first solo tour in Japan on August 13, with the release of his solo debut album. Under the title ‘SOL JAPAN TOUR 2014’ (working title), he will be travelling across 3 cities for 6 concerts (Aug 12-13 Osaka, Aug 17-18 Yokohama & Aug 23-24 Fukuoka).
As soon as the announcement was made, ticket-reservation for his first solo tour by local fans poured in, resulting in additional 4 concerts in 3 cities (Aug 20-21 Hyogo Kobe International Convention Center, Aug 26 Shizuoka Act City Hamamatsu University Hall, Aug 27 Tokyo International Forum Hall A) – resulting in a total of 10 concerts across 6 cities.
In an interview last year, TAEYANG said, “I want to do any performances, no matter what it is. I don’t mind if it is small. I wouldn’t mind singing on a cardboard box on the street,” showing much enthusiasm for a live performance.
His Japan concert is building much expectations as the performances will filled with his more mature and diverse music released for the first time in 4 years, as well as his love for live performances. TAEYANG’s eagerness to “identify with the fans at a close distance” contributed greatly to venue selection. Fans, who feel the same, are evermore competitive in booking the tickets.
Before releasing his first Japan solo debut album on Aug 13, TAEYANG will unveil the original Korean version of “RISE” on June 18 on major Japanese music sites. He is expected to bring a huge musical sensation in the neighboring country.
The title track “Eyes, Nose, Lips” has been #1 for 3 days on 10 major music sites as it still stands at the top on daily charts of Mnet, Melon, Bugs, Soribada, Daum, Naver, Genie, Olleh, Cyworld and Monkey 3. The popularity is borderless: he topped 8 iTunes album charts around the world, including Hong Kong.
The M/V of the track attracted 2.435 million views by June 5, surpassing 2 million views in just 2 days.
He will be exhibiting a comeback performance when he unveils “Eyes, Nose, Lips” and “STAY WITH ME” on SBS’s Inkigayo on May 8. Excitement is building especially for the song “STAY WITH ME” as G-DRAGON, who not only wrote and featured in the song but also TAEYANG’s close friend, will appear on stage as well.
