K-Pop Singer/Rapper Taeyang Talks "Moody" R&B, Calls Kanye West a Genius

K-pop singer/rapper Taeyang is a member of uber-popular South Korean boy band BIG BANG. But as a solo artist, the 25-year-old may have one of the most accessible sounds to come out of the scene. With a blend of R&B, hip-hop and EDM—best illustrated in his latest single "Ringa Linga"—Taeyang's record label, YG Entertainment, has hinted that a proper American advancement is in the works for the star.
As a part of Fuse News' ongoing FUSE LOVES SEOUL: From K-Pop to Hip Hop, host Liz Walaszczyk sat down with the K-pop stud to learn how fellow genre-blending artists like Miguel and Drake inspire him.
"When I listen to their music, it's kind of cold," he says. "It's really cool and moody."

But Taeyang calls rap's biggest genre-bender, Kanye West, a genius. "He opened a new door for the 'artist,'" the singer adds.
Watch the full interview above to find out his simple trick to keeping his six-pack abs. Then check out interviews with his fellow YG labelmates including 2NE1, TOP and WINNER. Look out for more K-pop acts, including Lee Hi, Jay Park and Epik High, all appearing next week on Fuse News, airing weekdays at 7:30/6:30C.
