Music site Melon reviewed 290 hit songs that were released from January 2012 to November 2012 and took a look at how long each song had stayed on their Top 50 list.

Because K-pop moves so quickly, multiple songs are released on a daily basis. As a result, many songs often rank first, but for the most part it’s only for a very short amount of time – sometimes only up to a few hours, and in some cases even less. Because of this, Melon decided to look at which songs had kept their longevity in terms of popularity.

The top songs lasted a total of 5 months on the top 50 list and these songs were Psy‘s “Gangnam Style“, SISTAR‘s “Alone“, and Busker Busker‘s “Cherry Blossom Ending“. Busker Busker’s “Cherry Blossom Ending” ranked within the Top 50 from April to August for a total of five months. Not only so, but five of their other songs ranked within the Top 50 for 3 straight months, proving the rookie team’s intense popularity. SISTAR’s “Alone” ranked within the Top 50 for a total of five months during the same period. When “Alone” fell off the Top 50 chart, “Loving U” took over and is still ranking within the Top 50 as of November. Psy’s “Gangnam Style” has been ranking in the Top 50 since July, and is on pace to be the only song to break the 5-month barrier once December is included.

The next set of songs ranked in the Top 50 for 4 months. Big Bang ranked with both “Blue” and “Fantastic Baby“, and Psy showed up on the list again with “Hot Goodbye” and “How Would It Have Been“. Ailee ranked with “Heaven“, Verbal Jint ranked with “Good Morning“, and CNBLUE‘s Jonghyun ranked with his OST for “Gentlemen’s Class“, “My Love“. Baek Ji Young was included with “Voice“, Lyn ranked with the “Moon that Embraces the Sun” OST “Back in Time“, and IU ranked with “Every End of the Day“. 2NE1 also ranked with “I Love You“, Huh Gak and Zia ranked with their duet, “I Need You“, T-ara ranked with “Lovey Dovey“, 10cm ranked with “Sorrow“, and SISTAR ranked with “Loving U” as mentioned before.
