America's CNBC reports about the Kpop Phenomena

As yet another sign of K-Pop going global, the American news outlet, CNBC, has published an article on the K-Pop phenomena. An article was published titled, ‘Move Over Bieber – Korean Pop Music Goes Global’ on July 16 in CNBC’s ‘Investing in South Korea’ section. In it, the article mentions Girls’ Generation, Big Bang and 2NE1 and talks about the frenzy that these idol groups are creating writing the groups are, “selling out concerts within minutes worldwide, breaking through Billboard music charts and even being featured on postage stamps in Korea.” The article also covers the growing profits and economic windfall K-Pop is generating, citing figures such as K-Pop’s industry revenues being some $3.4 billion in 2011 and also revealed K-Pop’s exports have grown annually, on average, 80 percent since 2007.
