"Sunset Glow" included in high school students' music syllabus

"By listening to BIGBANG' Sunset Glow, let's spot the differences between today's music and that from other generations."

Tae Sung Publishing has recently published the book, "The Music of Our Time", which is said to be included in the revised music book list for high school students in South Korea.

On the 23rd, the Department of Education released a new music book list which contains 3 new titles. In one of those books, a song of idol group, BIGBANG, has been included because it's said to be one of those songs that youngsters like to listen to these days, especially now that the proportion of pop songs has increased tremendously.

One of the chapters in the book, "Music of Our Time", is "The World of Pop Music". In this chapter, pop music's origin in the 1920s and its development in the 20th century is discussed. The song, "Sunset Glow", originally made by Le Moon Sae in 1988 and remade by BIGBANG in 2008 is one of the topics. The music scores of both versions are printed in this chapter for students to compare them and the generations in which they became popular.

[Omitted parts where songs of other artists are discussed.]

An official from the Department of Education said, "It's the first time that we included a book that tackles both classical and pop music. In order to motivate students and to get good learning results, we have to do some changes on how textbooks are created."
