GD X Taeyang’s single Good Boy ranked number one on the music charts as soon as it was released on November 21.
YG Entertainment (YG)’s first hip-hop project GD X Taeyang’s Good Boy ranked number one on eight domestic music charts, namely MelOn, Olleh, Mnet, Bugs, Cyworld, Soribada, Naver and Daum, as of the morning of November 21 (KST), gathering explosive response.
It is currently ranked number one on the iTunes charts of Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan and the music video recorded over 790,000 views on YouTube, in eight hours since the release.
Good Boy, which gathered attention by bringing together Big Bang’s G-Dragon and Taeyang, has been receiving a lot of love for realizing G-Dragon and Taeyang’s unique style of trap music.

Co-composed by G-Dragon, The Fliptones and Freedo as well as arranged and lyrics written by G-Dragon, the song features a catchy trap beat along with G-Dragon’s sentimental rap and melody and Taeyang’s vocals full of groove, differentiating it from the other trap music songs. The lyrics express the story of a man who dreams of a fairy tale-like love, unlike how other people judge him.
The music video of Good Boy, which was released through YG’s official blog along with the song, has been directed by the world renowned music video director Colin Tilley. Having won multiple times at BET Awards, Colin Tilley has directed music videos of world renowned pop stars, such as Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown and more.
The music video has been produced in cooperation with YouTube, in order to celebrate The 2nd YouTube Music Awards launching on March of 2015.
In order to differentiate from The 1st YouTube Music Awards, YouTube selected artists to shine in 2015 and provided opportunities for them to produce special collaboration music videos with top director and YouTube creators.
The music fans around the world were also given the opportunity to take part in the whole process through YouTube and the first musician and music video were that of GD X Taeyang’s Good Boy music video.
Starting with GD X Taeyang’s music video for Good Boy, the famous YouTube star Megan Nicole’s collaboration video will be presented through YouTube in celebration of The 2nd YouTube Music Awards. The videos can be watched on YouTube Music Awards’ official channel(www.youtube.com/musicawards).
