Big Bang holds press conference for "YG x Hyundai Card Rebranding Project"
On June 5, Big Bang attended a press conference for the "YG X Hyundai Card Rebranding Project" and discussed their new plans for their special album Still Alive.
The conference was held for Big Bang’s agency, YG Entertainment, and Hyundai Card to talk about their new collaboration project.
G-Dragon said, “Since we are all very interested in music, we shared our own opinions to make the album. The album and music video were all made like a 'blockbuster' and it was such a nice experience. We are planning to wear various costumes to give various performances.”
The group will not be involved in music activities with this album, but instead, they will be seeing their fans with the “Rebranding Project.” Hyundai Card has expressed the group’s growth in music and concerns they have in a new logo, BI (Brand Identity), album jacket, and music video. They also created a guidebook for the boys’ new brand.
Another project called “Re-Monster” will be launched. Many different musicians gather and re-interpret Big Bang’s “Monster” in their own way and present it to Hyundai Card Music. The company plans to release the rearranged songs officially.
The artist who makes the best “Re-Monster” arrangement will be given an opportunity to perform at the Hyundai Card Music pop store which opens on June 8 and supported to produce a digital single with it.
G-Dragon said, “We hope that many indie bands will participate in the project. We are so excited that indie musicians and other people will reinterpret our song.”
Big Bang released their special album on June 3. The title song “Moster” ranked first on several music charts and received an explosive response.
The music video for 'Monster' received over 4 million hits on YouTube only in two days of its release. The video ranked first on the Viral Video Chart, a popular British online video chart site, beating world wide rock band Coldplay.
On June 5, according to the U.S. iTunes album chart, the group’s special album ranked 46th. Big Bang is the only Korean singer who entered the Top 200 list on iTunes album chart. The group also ranked 34th in Canada, 162nd in France, 90th in Australia, 25th in Mexico, and 49th in Chile.
Big Bang will not perform in Korea with their new album to focus on preparing for their Japanese tour instead. The group started their tour on May 17 and 18 in Nagoya, Japan. They will hold 13 concerts in 5 Japanese cities, including, Osaka, Saitama, and Fukuoka until June 24. G-Dragon will release his solo album in August as well.
